YouTube #Rewind2013

YouTube wraps up the year once again with the most viewed clips of 2013.

Once again they have done an amazing job capturing all that was awesome and viral and even with celebrity cameos from Jimmy Fallon, Jamie Oliver and our personal favourite, The Cookie Monster.

Not much more to say about this but watch the clip and reminisce about the year that was 2013

Online Christmas Shopping . My Saviour

Shopping Online This Christmas

Well it’s been another crazy year and once again I’ve left the Christmas shopping later than intended (does this sound familiar?) It’s the same thing every year. I plan to get the Christmas shopping done early and next thing I know I’m running around like an idiot trying to get presents for loved ones.

So this year I decided to stay away from the mall and all it’s craziness and dived right into internet shopping. From the new iPad (I brought that for myself) to cool toys for my nieces and of course an amazing present for the wife (yes I’m still looking). Even a few funny presses for the work mates.

I had a vague idea on what to get everyone and I believe I may have nailed it this year (well we’ll see I guess). So if you don’t want to join society in the craziness that is Christmas shopping in a mall, here are a few of my favourite sites to shop on.

ASCOLOR: Affordable clothing (mainly T shirts) in men and womens.

The Apple Store: Yes I’m a slave to the Apple machine but I can’t live without my iPad and neither should you!

EBAY: We’ve all heard of it but not enough of us use this endless treasure chest of great bargains and a endless supply of gifts. Be careful, you may become to addicted.

SurfStitch: I love to surf and I’m alway’s on the lookout for new board shorts, wetsuits etc. From clothing to surf hardware, this place has it all.

ASOS: Another affordable fashion store with deals running all the time and some great clothes from overseas. Easy to navigate and shop.

While shopping online may be the easy option. By no means is it the safer. When I shop online I prefer sites that use PayPal. It’s easy to set up an account and there is no use of a credit card. Just transfer money to your PayPal account and get shopping. If you do use your credit card I tend to go by one rule. If the site feels dodgy, don’t use it. Hope you all have a great holiday season and Merry Christmas from the New Beach Media Team

Instagram’s New Update. What do you want?

New Beach Media-Instagram update post

With the new Instagram update to be released by the end of the year, I think the question needing to be asked is “what do Instagram users want”?

According to a report from GigaOM’s (well placed sources), private messaging features are what we have to look forward to. Not to mention a group messaging function thrown in there too.

Here at New Beach Media we find there are always things we would like to see on social media, and Instagram is no exception. While I love the platform I think it could use a few features that would at least make my user experience better if not easier

Things I’d like to see in the new update:

  • The addition of a switch user function would make life just that little bit easier. I’m using any number of Instagram accounts for clients at any one time. This function would eliminate logging in and out and remembering passwords.
  • A repost function. No more screenshots, reposting yourself or using a reposting App. Just one button to rule them all.
  • A hashtag tracking function. Save your favourite hashtags and get notified when someone has used it.

With all the possible things Instagram could add in the coming update we’re pretty excited to see what Instagram has for us all for Christmas!
